England Women were beaten 2-1 by Norway within their own friendly in Bergen as Caroline Graham Hansen’s late goal finished a comeback for those hosts.
Barcelona forwards Hansen punished England sloppiness in the 89th minute, progressing to the box collecting the ball from a misjudged Millie Bright pass and shooting past Carly Telford.
This came after a Frida Maanum header at the 53rd minute had cancelled out Georgia Stanway’s superb 10th-minute attack.
The winless run for Phil Neville’s side since their 3-0 win against Norway in the quarter-finals of this summer World Cup in France today stands at four matches.
After Kristine Minde had headed an early attempt wide for Norway, England grabbed the lead when Nikita Parris touched Steph Houghton’s pass into Stanway, whose first time effort from 25 yards out went in off the bar.
As the hosts searched to earn a quick response, Maanum led off-target along with Karina Saevik then fired over after Lucy Bronze – playing in midfield – lost possession.
A very low drive created by Guro Reiten followed before her luck tried back using a strike that the extending Toni Duggan could not stop from going wide because she tried to meet with a cut-back closely and an air-kick was made by Amalie Eikeland.
Reiten went close with a curling campaign, and after Jodie Taylor was then twice thwarted in front of goal at the opposite end by interceptions, Telford was called upon in first-half stoppage period to push away a goal-bound Saevik delivery.
The phases of the half watched Stanway Telford turn an Eikeland photo behind and skew an effort wide.
Norway sent the ball and drew level as Maanum connected before Rachel Daly.
Bronze almost put England back ahead heading Parris’ cross broad. Taylor afterwards missed between 2 Hansen shots, by a header.
Bronze then saw one attempt fly off-target and had another blocked by a team-mate, until Hansen made the majority of Bright passing the ball directly to her, collecting it just within England’s half, taking it into the region, past the diving struggle of Houghton, and lashing a shot to the web.
